A major Investment into the Angels has created a new great value pub pizza offer for Hitchin.

The Angels (formerly Angels Reply) opened on 30th June 2014 following a major refurbishment creating a new pub using chic retro furnishings which make it the perfect place to relax, kick back and enjoy time with friends and loved ones.

Tracie and Scott Webber are the joint managers and are delighted with the new look, facilities and menu which include a variety of pub classics with a modern twist including heavenly sharing Sunday roasts as well as operating a pizzeria kitchen. ‘We are really proud of our new pizzas which are sourced from Luciano, an Italian artisan pizza dough producer’ said Scott, ‘the hand-crafted dough is simply the best – he uses great 00 flour wheat germ, semolina, extra virgin olive oil and sea salt’.

The bar stocks a selection of fine wines, world beers, cocktails, full range of Hertfordshire McMullen’s cask ales from the Whole Hop Brewery, delicious coffee and a cake counter with dessert treats to complement any pub visit.

The Angels on Bedford Road is just a hop, skip and jump from Butts Lane Park and a few moments away from the bustle of the town centre. The pub will open 7 days a week seating up to 230 diners and drinkers at any one time with full table service and space for larger party bookings. The pub also features an exclusive area for guests aged 18 or over who enjoy a quiet tipple and bite.

‘Small ones are also welcome’ said Tracie, as The Angels hosts two playground areas, indoors and outdoors with welcoming family booths and pizza making birthday parties.

Prices range from a simple freshly baked, filled breads costing just £4.95 or Margherita pizza from £5.95 to the heartier feast dishes including a mini joint of roast meat or a whole chicken to share with bottomless trimmings for a family of four at £30.

The site has been included in McMullen’s pub portfolio ever since 1957. The McMullen family has always had community presence in Hitchin with an Angel or two – the Angel’s Vaults was the original McMullen’s pub on Sun Street which succumbed to a fire – the interior of the new Angels honours this heritage with a solid oak McMullen’s emblem that was carved from the oak of an original beam at the Angels Vaults.
