We are very pleased to announce the reopening of the beating heart of Hertford, The White Hart.

Macs’ connection with The White Hart began in 1790 when William McMullen, a market gardener, joined a Fellowship Society (a privately organised type of social security system) based out of the pub. Rather ironically the Society would fine its members sixpence if they attended the meetings which were in the pub, ‘disguised by drink’! William’s great grandson acquired the pub 118 years later for McMullen’s.

“With this heritage in mind, we wanted to have some fun and mix old with modern, so guests can expect a collective of retro furniture including dining booths and super comfy sofas made of car seats, wall hand paintings and two masterpiece fire places for colder nights. Our sun trap courtyard is a haven of recycled Mac’s beer barrels and perfect beer garden additions including the ‘Jameson hangout’ shed and the historic horse stables turned games room. The pub is perfect for a relaxed lunch, drinks whilst watching the live sport and becomes more fun the later people stay”- Said Heydon Mizon, Retail Director of McMullen’s.

Casual dining will be offered with food & drink crafted to order.

“Expect heritage McMullen cask ales alongside modern keg brews, international beers, wines and of course, cocktails. Our dining guests can choose from fresh rotisserie chicken, delicious snacks and proper burgers alongside soft whipped ice cream for afters”- Said Steven Walsh, new General Manager.

“We have recruited 10 new local stars for the reopening team, undergone preopening training and excited for a new era!”
