Exciting news from the Hertford based independent pub operator and brewer, McMullen, as they reopen the doors of The Wheelwrights in Goffs Oak after a full internal and external refurbishment.

The land was originally bought as a former stables and wheelwright’s shop in 1898 for the then princely sum of £375. The current building, a traditional pub in the centre of the community was built in 1971 and has proudly worn the McMullen name since.

The refurbishment of the ‘proper’ local pub has included full external repairs and decorating with new but traditional signage giving The Wheelwrights a new face. A true family friendly focus echoes through the spacious garden, where locally brewed real ale, world beers and wines can be enjoyed as the young ones let off some steam.

Internally, the Lounge and Public Bar have both received TLC elegantly restyling the pub to reflect the rich heritage of the building and the community spirit of those that visit. The relaxed Lounge Bar boasts comfort with the homely atmosphere expected of a friendly local, perfect for family dinners or even informal business meetings.

McMullen’s have spent c£90k in total on the complete transformation resulting in a beautiful communal building which will continue to stand the test of time serving the people of Cheshunt and further afield.
