One of Hertfordshire’s favourite country pubs has recently been extended, increasing space and boosting its natural character and seriously relaxed dining experience.

The Coach & Horses in Bishop’s Stortford joined the McMullen family in 2011, a beautiful pub full of character, cosy compartmental dining areas, a roaring fire and garden allotment. The pub was recently voted as one of the “Top 18 Real Ale Pubs you need to visit in Hertfordshire” by Hertfordshire Life.

After a substantial investment made by the Hertford based pub operator and brewer in 2013, McMullen has now increased the available internal area of the building by enclosing the courtyard in keeping with the rest of the building.

The new addition perfectly dovetails the buildings authentic heritage with a modern, comfortable and relaxed dining experience and provides additional dining for 35 more guests with improved wheelchair access.

General Manager Natalie says the refurbishment has “a modern feel to it, light and beautifully decorated walls with saddles and murals, garden themed pictures, crates and knick knacks galore.” She believes one of the best features is “a huge skylight in the ceiling with fully extending bi-folding doors onto the terrace” perfect for the longer summer days and star spotting during darker winter evenings.
