McMullens have announced the purchase of a pub located in Great Notley Essex, the pub has previously been known as the Oaklands Inn and Essex Cricketers.

“We are delighted to have acquired a pub in the centre of this aspirational ‘garden village’ and look forward to materially investing in both the building and the team that will run it” said Heydon Mizon, Joint Managing Director of McMullens, the Hertford brewer and pub company.

“We plan to refurbish the building to create a warm and comfortable new pub of quality with over 130 covers. The pub will have a wide range of beers including McMullens’ authentic heritage cask ales and contemporary tasting local and global brands. These will be complemented by an interesting wine and spirits list and our successful, excellent Chicken & Grill pub menu. The Chicken & Grill concept was developed in 2007 and has exceeded our expectations in all 12 sites where it has been operated. “We are particularly pleased with the latest opening at the Princess Charlotte in Colchester, which has attracted custom beyond our expectations” said Heydon
