I'm part of the Chicken & Grill family!
C & G No. 4, bought for £1250 in 1920, this McMullen pub has stood on Kings Head Hill, under an impressive Oak Tree (funnily enough!) ever since.
The Royal Oak joined the Chicken & Grill pub family in 2011, with a fayre that includes freshly spit-roasted chicken, fabulous ice cream sundaes, locally brewed beers, cocktails and our favourite wines – all to be enjoyed by our roaring fires or alfresco when the sun is shining.
Dining aplenty, private hire available, and regular entertainment always offers a reason to visit! Though once you’ve sampled the most consistently amazing service of any McMullen’s Chicken & Grill pub, any other reason to visit is simply an added bonus!

Private Hire, Birthdays and Events
Our lovely function space is available for private hire. We cater for formal dining events, buffets, drinks and nibbles or just drinks, whatever you prefer.
We can seat up to 30 guests for dining, or 40 for less formal events. Larger events can also book the adjoining restaurant space bringing guest numbers to 60.
